Fredericksburg’s location between Richmond and Washington D.C. has always made it unique, according to Victoria Matthews, sales manager for Fredericksburg Tourism, Stadium and Sports.
“During the Civil War, our location between the capital of the Confederacy and the U.S. Capitol made this the site of intense fighting,” she says, recalling the historic Battle of Fredericksburg in 1862. “Today, our location still makes us unique, but not for fighting. Just off of Interstate 95, Fredericksburg has become a desirable place for groups to meet, celebrate, and cooperate while enjoying our many amenities, history, and wonderful culture.”
