GREENSBORO, N.C.—Henri Fourrier, president and CEO of Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), has retired after three decades of leadership. The organization celebrated his retirement at a send-off party June 10 at Piedmont Hall, which included a number of city and county leaders, tourism partners, family, friends, and current and former CVB staff.
Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan awarded Fourrier a key to the city. Additional tributes came from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), NC AAU, Greensboro Sports Foundation, Greensboro/Guilford County Tourism Development Authority, and the CVB team.
As president and CEO, Fourrier led efforts to develop such venues as the Greensboro Aquatic Center and Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. He was also instrumental in boosting sports tourism through the introduction of portable indoor pickleball courts.
Fourrier’s last day as CEO of Greensboro CVB is June 30. A successor is expected to be announced in the following weeks.
During his speech, Fourrier said, “Greensboro has been very good to me for my career. I hope that I was good for Greensboro.”
