
HOUSTON, Texas – The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) has appointed Jorge Franz as the organization’s new president.
Franz, who is also senior vice president of tourism and industry relations for Houston First, the city’s official DMO, will continue in that role as well. He is a veteran with both organizations, having held positions with each since 2001.
“Jorge will do an outstanding job with this added responsibility,” said Michael Heckman, interim president and CEO of Houston First, in a media statement. “He is very familiar with the business of the GHCVB and is a tremendous ambassador for Houston and our hospitality community.”
Franz currently serves on Expedia’s Media Solutions Select Board and the board of the Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, and he served on the 2017 Super Bowl International Host Committee. He is also a past chair of the Governor of Texas’ Tourism Advisory Committee.
He was born in Santiago, Chile and has lived in Chile, Venezuela, Spain, and the U.S.
