Following on the heels of several new bourbon experiences in 2025, the 2026 debuts include NuLu Whiskey Co. and Sole, a speakeasy located beneath a newly opened downtown bakery, Secret Recipe.”
Louisville also welcomed Mashup Food Hall in the NuLu/LouMed District, offering a diverse lineup of chef-driven, family-owned eateries and gathering spaces suitable for business meetings or post-meeting get-togethers.
Two major new downtown hotel developments are in the works, according to Louisville Tourism. A JW Marriott hotel is set to open downtown in 2027, adjacent to 4th Street Live!. The 26-story redevelopment of a former bank building will feature approximately 418 guest rooms and more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Also, construction is expected to start in 2027 on a $700 million redevelopment of the city’s iconic Humana Building, which is being transformed into a 1,000-room convention-style hotel with more than 100,000 square feet of premium event venues.
Located adjacent to Muhammad Ali Louisville International Airport (SDF), Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) continues its $460 million expansion and renovation. A new 350,000-square-foot multipurpose building, expected to be completed in January 2027, will make KEC the fifth-largest convention center in the country, according to Louisville Tourism. KEC currently has 1.2 million square feet of contiguous meeting space, including two arenas, 46 meeting rooms, and more than 300 acres of outdoor event space. Less than a mile from the airport, Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Expo Ctr by IHG features 50,000 square feet of function space across 21 event rooms, including two ballrooms and an exhibit hall. The Crowne Plaza anchors a cluster of select-service hotels, providing more than 5,000 guest rooms. In downtown, Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) includes an exhibit hall that can accommodate 1,039 booths or seat more than 19,000 people theater style, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom seating 2,592 banquet guests, 52 meeting rooms, and a 165-seat tiered conference theater. KICC connects to the 620-room Louisville Marriott Downtown, with 54,767 square feet of event space, and to the 393-room Hyatt Regency, with 20,600 square feet of function space.
There are more than 7,000 guest rooms within walking distance of KICC, including two historic properties: The Brown Hotel Louisville, with 294 guest rooms and 17 event spaces, including the elegant Crystal Ballroom and a rooftop garden; and The Seelbach Hilton Louisville, with 308 guest rooms and 21,490 square feet of function space, which includes the Rathskeller—the only surviving Rookwood-Pottery room in the world, which accommodates up to 300 for receptions.
Other major downtown event hotels include the 1,310-room Galt House Hotel, with more than 130,000 square feet of function space; 612-room Omni Louisville Hotel, with 70,000 square feet of meeting and event space; and 304-room Embassy Suites by Hilton Louisville Downtown, with 18,509 square feet of event space.
Significant offsite venues include the 23,000-seat KFC Yum! Center, with more than 10 event spaces to accommodate up to 800 guests; the iconic Churchill Downs, with special race-day packages and indoor and outdoor event spaces to accommodate more than 1,500 guests; Louisville Slugger Museum, offering museum and factory tours, a 280-person-capacity Skybox, and full-venue rentals for 400-plus guests; and the Muhammad Ali Center, with a 158-seat auditorium, the rooftop View Pointe Hall, and additional indoor and outdoor venues.
