Morehead and Rowan County offer planners something increasingly rare, says Joy Brown, executive director of Morehead-Rowan County Tourism. “We’re a destination where business and authentic experiences naturally come together. Within minutes, groups can paddle scenic waterways, hike the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, explore Daniel Boone National Forest, or fish or boat on Cave Run Lake.”
Morehead is home to Morehead State University, creating opportunities for educational partnerships, collegiate events, and access to cultural and athletic venues. “Combined with affordable accommodations, convenient interstate access, and a walkable downtown, we offer exceptional value without sacrificing quality,” Brown adds. Culture seekers will enjoy the nationally recognized Kentucky Folk Art Center, with live performances and exhibits.
The 32,000-square-foot Morehead Conference Center includes 18,000 square feet of exhibit space, an 8,800-square-foot ballroom seating 500, and additional breakout and pre-function spaces. Morehead State University has a variety of spaces, including a 600-seat ballroom, a 100-seat theater, and a 6,500-seat arena. Rowan County Arts Center includes a 300-seat auditorium, gallery spaces, and additional indoor and outdoor event spaces.
The recently renovated 95-room Holiday Inn & Suites Morehead (formerly the Comfort Inn) and 64-room Hampton Inn Morehead each have small meeting rooms.
