PALMETTO, Fla. – A planned hotel near the Bradenton Area Convention Center is expected to open within a year from now.
The eight-story, 252-room Marriott property would be the largest in Manatee County, Fla., reports The Bradenton Herald. It is expected to include a rooftop restaurant and swimming pool among its amenities.
The article states the minority owner of the hotel says it is on schedule and will be able to handle issues such as supply-chain delays and inflation.
The hotel was originally planned to be under the Sheraton brand but was changed to Marriott.
The nearby convention center will be getting upgrades at some point in the future as well. The venue, which opened in 1985, was last updated in 2007 to the tune of $6.5 million, according to the Herald article.
Elliott Falcione, executive director of the Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, is working with convention center officials on the expansion plans.
According to the article, Manatee County commissioners previously approved $17.1 million for the expansion, which would include 20,000 square feet of new space, including 14,000 for a ballroom that could seat 800 people banquet-style.
No timeline for the expansion has been made publicly available.
The Herald previously also reported renovations envisioned for the convention center, would include new ceiling tiles, refinishing the floor, door replacements, restroom updating, kitchen upgrades, and repainting the interior and the exterior in colors complementary to the hotel.
