Home to Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University, Florida’s capital city of Tallahassee offers a “Pretty. Unexpected” experience, according to Janet Roach, director of meetings and conventions for Visit Tallahassee. “We defy the typical Florida stereotype, offering a seamless blend of sophisticated legislative and academic environments with an air of serene, natural elegance,” Roach says. “Planners return for our unique offsite venues and culinary scene that prioritizes independent, chef-driven authenticity.”

Larger event spaces include Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, with a 34,000-square-foot exhibit hall and a 12,500-person-capacity arena, and Augustus B. Turnbull III Florida State Conference Center on the FSU campus, with nine breakout rooms and an auditorium seating up to 325 people. Florida A&M’s event spaces include the historic 1,190-seat Lee Hall auditorium.

The 242-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tallahassee has 10,494 square feet of function space, including a ballroom seating 200; 117-room Hotel Duval, Autograph Collection has five event rooms to accommodate up to 250 guests; and 154-room AC Hotel by Marriott Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol can seat 300 guests theater style. The AC Hotel’s Charlie Park Rooftop lounge offers private dining and reception space for up to 200 guests.

Key areas of the city include College Town, bordered by Florida A&M University and FSU, with restaurants, bars, live music, and event venues; Railroad Square Art District, with more than 70 studios and creative spaces; Market District, an upscale retail area; and downtown, anchored by the Florida Historic Capitol Museum and the current State Capitol, with a 22nd-floor observation deck that is open to the public.
