
HOUSTON, Texas – Thompson Hotels’ newest property, The Thompson Houston, is set for a late December opening.
Located beside the Buffalo Bayou Park, a historic 160-acre waterside green space just west of downtown, the hotel will have more than 172 guest rooms, including 34 suites. According to a media release, the guest rooms are intended to emulate a “Texas oil baron’s home.”
Thompson Houston will offer more than 17,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space to accommodate groups of up to 800 people, including an 8,000-square-foot ballroom. The hotel’s breakout rooms and pre-function space feature floor-to-ceiling windows, while other rooms have wraparound terraces with city views.
Unique amenities include a once-acre rooftop deck “living room,”’ which features an infinity pool, restaurant and longue Sol 7, and 2,500-square-foot greenspace. The hotel will also have a full-service Thompson Spa with six treatment rooms, a hair and nail salon, 24-hour fitness, and outdoor and indoor relaxation areas, as well as an onsite sauna.
Additional food and beverage offerings include Chardon, a French brasserie with a light approach to French Fare, and Buck 40, an elevated supper club focusing on American classic cuisine.
Additionally, the hotel will debut a cafe in partnership with local coffee company, Maven Coffee Company, offering specialty coffees, pastries, and coffee-based cocktails to guests. Maven was founded by Astros player Lance McCullers Jr.
