FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.—Visit Fairfax has named Chris Colvin director of sales, replacing industry veteran Dean Miller, who retired after more than 20 years with Visit Fairfax. Colvin will lead efforts to grow group business across Fairfax County’s hotel, meetings, and events market.
Colvin has 30 years of hotel sales leadership experience in the Washington, D.C., metro area. She most recently served for nearly a decade as director of sales and marketing for the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks. During her tenure, she received Crescent Hotels & Resorts’ Sales Leader of the Year award and helped earn the company’s Sales & Revenue Team of the Year award in 2019.
Colvin’s hospitality career also includes senior sales leadership positions at the Sheraton Silver Spring, DoubleTree by Hilton in Washington, D.C., Hamilton Crowne Plaza, where she earned a Highest Revenue Award, and multiple Hilton properties throughout the region.
In her new position, Colvin will oversee Visit Fairfax’s sales team in its efforts to attract new group business to Fairfax County across the leisure, corporate, and sports markets. She also will work closely with the destination’s hospitality partners to increase hotel room-night production.
Visit Fairfax also recently appointed Faith Van Deusen as events and community services manager. In this newly created position, Van Deusen will oversee community event development throughout Fairfax County while providing logistical and operational support to the organization’s marketing and sales teams.
