The editor’s picks are in for ConventionSouth’s Annual Top New or Renovated Awards for 2024.
According to Lodging Econometrics—a leading provider of business development database programs to hotel franchise companies, lodging industry vendors, ownership and management groups, Wall Street analysts, and industry consultants—631 new hotels offering 72,160 guest rooms are expected to open throughout the United States by the end of 2024. Lodging Econometrics also reports four of the five largest hotel construction pipeline markets at the end of Q3/2024 are in the South. Leading in hotel construction is Dallas, with a record-high 194 hotel projects and 22,803 rooms; second is Atlanta, with a record-high 166 hotel projects and 19,174 rooms; third is Nashville, Tenn., with a record-high 130 projects and 16,966 rooms; and fifth is Austin, Texas, with a record-high 119 hotel projects and 13,962 rooms. Additionally, Lodging Econometrics noted 1,969 active hotel renovation and conversion projects and 262,048 rooms in Q3/2024.
