Greeneville

Eastern Tennessee

Once the capital of the short-lived, independent State of Franklin, today Greeneville is the “heart of northeast Tennessee,” according to DiscoverGreenevilleTN.com. Frontier legend and politician David Crockett and President Andrew Johnson once had homes there. Today, visitors can walk in their footsteps, and planners can make history with an event at Tusculum University, one of the oldest colleges in the country, or at the 51-room General Morgan Inn & Conference Center, a member of Historic Hotels of America. General Morgan Inn includes a 3,000-square-foot ballroom, a rooftop venue, and a 100-seat dining room. The city’s Niswonger Performing Arts Center has a 1,150-seat auditorium.
