Just 34 miles southeast of Nashville, the Rutherford County cities of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, and Eagleville are vibrant communities, says Donna Klempnow, director of sales for Visit Rutherford. “Thanks to our prime location, it’s the perfect place to dive into rich history while enjoying all the perks of a bustling metropolitan area. Our unique blend of past and present promises something special for everyone.”
The 283-room Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center, located just steps from shops and restaurants at The Avenue Murfreesboro, features 63,000 square feet of flexible event space, including the Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate 2,800 event attendees. The 169-room DoubleTree by Hilton has 3,840 square feet of meeting space; 116-rooom Hyatt Place has nearly 3,000 square feet of function space; 110-room Holiday Inn can accommodate 140 banquet guests; and 112-room Hilton Garden Inn – Smyrna has a 200-person reception capacity. There are more than 5,700 guest rooms in the county.
Williamson Family Farm can accommodate 2,500 guests in its three indoor barn spaces, four private suites, and outdoor space for event tents. The View at Fountains is an upscale venue at Fountains at Gateway, with 5,800 square feet of indoor event space and additional outdoor covered terraces. Patterson Park Community Center has 16,942 square feet of function space. Smyrna Event Center can host up to 250 people.
Three nearby distilleries and a winery make for great day trips, Klempnow says. “At Short Mountain Distillery, you can taste and purchase moonshine and learn about the local heritage of whiskey making. At Shelbyville’s Nearest Green Distillery, you will learn about the first African American master distiller on record in the United States and discover the story behind this now all-female-led brand. In Tullahoma, George Dickel Distillery offers a classic distillery tour and tastings, plus a summer concert series. Just minutes from Murfreesboro, Arrington Vineyard features award-winning wines in a rolling vineyard with spectacular views, free live music seasonally, food trucks, and more.
