Augusta’s downtown meeting district places groups beside the Savannah River, Riverwalk, and a growing collection of restaurants and attractions. Destination Augusta represents more than 70 hotels and 50 special-event venues, giving planners a range of options, from full conventions to smaller offsite gatherings.
The 372-room Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center anchors the district, with direct access to the 81,102-square-foot Augusta Convention Center. The convention center features 14 meeting rooms and 26 breakout rooms; its largest space, the Olmstead Exhibit Hall, accommodates up to 3,895 people.
Downtown’s walkable setting makes it easy to connect business sessions with riverfront breaks, group dining, and the city’s arts and history. Destination Augusta can also turn local assets into structured group experiences. Planners might schedule a Petersburg boat trip on the Augusta Canal, a nature program at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, or a customized Authentic Augusta activity. Augusta & Co. serves as a useful downtown welcome stop, while rooftops, breweries, and the riverfront provide settings for receptions and informal networking.
For future programs, the New Augusta Arena is slated to open in fall 2027, with seating for up to 10,500. The arena’s Great Hall will serve as a connecting point to the renovated Bell Auditorium, creating a broader campus for concerts, sporting events, general sessions, and public-facing programs.
