NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. and Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center marked a major construction milestone July 9 with a topping-off ceremony celebrating the vertical completion of the resort’s $131 million expansion.
The ceremony recognized the project’s transition to the interior build-out phase.
Metro Nashville District 15 council member Jeff Gregg, Ryman Hospitality Properties executive chairman Colin Reed, and D.F. Chase Inc. senior superintendent Jim Root participated in the event, which included the ceremonial placement of the final beam signed by members of the construction team and company leaders.
“Gaylord Opryland is the property that helped build the Gaylord Hotels brand into the powerhouse it is today,” Reed says. “This expansion incorporates the best ideas and innovations we have deployed across our portfolio over the past several decades and returns them to where it all began nearly 50 years ago. I want to thank Marriott and the Gaylord Opryland team, our partners at D.F. Chase, and everyone who has helped us reach this important milestone. We look forward to welcoming our guests into this new space next year.”
Announced in January 2025, the project will add approximately 108,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 31,000-square-foot ballroom, 38,000 square feet of breakout space, and 39,000 square feet of pre-function space. The expansion is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
