ATLANTA—The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) has introduced several new amenities designed to improve accessibility, connectivity, and convenience for event organizers and attendees.
The additions come as the Georgia World Congress Center Authority continues to enhance the GWCC campus, which hosts millions of attendees, exhibitors, and meeting professionals each year. The new amenities include a dedicated sensory room, six ZenSpace meeting pods, and a campus-wide Wi-Fi 7 upgrade.
The sensory room was introduced following GWCC’s certification as a Sensory Inclusive™ venue by KultureCity®, a nonprofit focused on creating more inclusive public spaces for people with sensory needs and invisible disabilities. The initiative is supported through a partnership with Georgia resident Connor Tomlinson, who appeared on Seasons 2, 3, and 4 of Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum series.
The permanent sensory room provides a quiet, calming environment for guests who need a break from the activity of large conventions and events. It is intended to support individuals with autism, PTSD, anxiety, dementia, and other sensory processing needs.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with GWCC on the introduction of a new sensory room,” says Uma Srivastava, executive director of KultureCity®. “Our mission is to create a world where everyone, regardless of their sensory needs, can fully enjoy and participate in community experiences. This sensory room represents a crucial step toward inclusivity, providing a welcoming space where individuals with sensory sensitivities can engage with their surroundings comfortably. We applaud GWCC for its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment, and we are confident that this initiative will have a positive impact on the lives of many in the community.”
In Building B, GWCC has added six ZenSpace meeting pods, providing attendees with private, quiet spaces for virtual meetings, business calls, and collaboration without leaving the convention center. The pods feature built-in power and connectivity, switchable privacy glass, wireless screen casting, and on-demand booking technology.
GWCC has also upgraded its campus-wide wireless network in partnership with CCLD Technologies. The new Wi-Fi 7 system is designed to deliver faster, more reliable connectivity throughout the venue, supporting attendee engagement, exhibitor demonstrations, live presentations, and event operations.
“The expectations of today’s meetings and events continue to evolve,” says Joe Bocherer, chief commercial officer for Georgia World Congress Center Authority. “This summer, our campus welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors for FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the FIFA Fan Festival™ in Centennial Olympic Park, demonstrating our ability to support events of every size and complexity. Enhancements, such as sensory-inclusive spaces, dependable connectivity, and flexible work areas, give planners the infrastructure and services they need while creating a more accessible, productive, and comfortable experience for attendees.”
The new amenities add to GWCC’s efforts to provide meeting planners with infrastructure that accommodates a wider range of attendee needs while supporting the technology and work requirements of today’s events.
