HOOVER, Ala.—Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel is celebrating its 40th anniversary with property enhancements and anniversary programming designed to strengthen its position as a leading meetings and events destination.

Located in Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham, the hospitality landmark is entering a new chapter following the appointment of Brett DeLoach as general manager earlier this year. DeLoach brings decades of hospitality experience to his new role, including more than 20 years as a general manager across multiple hotel brands.

DeLoach says the opportunity to lead the property was a natural fit because of its established reputation and growth potential. “It takes a lot of hard work to make a good hotel a great hotel, and this one has a storied reputation I was familiar with,” he says. “I saw an opportunity to build on that foundation and help take the overall experience to the next level.”

Since DeLoach’s arrival, Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel has introduced a corporate training program focused on customer service, team development, and delivering personalized guest experiences. The initiative has helped create renewed energy among staff while reinforcing service standards across the property. “Our goal is to ensure every guest has an exceptional experience from arrival to departure,” DeLoach says. “We are focused on reinforcing a culture of excellence and hospitality in everything we do, while recognizing the team members who bring that experience to life every day.”

Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel offers 329 guest rooms, six suites, and 32,000 square feet of meeting space across two ballrooms and 22 meeting rooms. It includes onsite dining and event catering at Merk’s Tavern & Kitchen, a 24-hour StayFit Gym and sauna, and exclusive guest access to the nearby private Riverchase Country Club Golf Course.

The hotel continues to invest in upgrades to enhance the guest experience. Its rooftop pool recently reopened, featuring updated finishes, new outdoor furnishings, and refreshed amenities for summer visitors. Additional improvements are planned for the hotel’s meeting and event spaces, including new carpeting, wall coverings, and paint. The upgrades are intended to support the property’s ability to accommodate a variety of meetings, conventions, and special events.

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, the hotel will introduce several nostalgic elements celebrating its history. Merk’s Tavern & Kitchen will offer original signature cocktails from the hotel’s opening year at retro pricing, while a lobby display will showcase memorabilia and milestones from the property’s four decades of operation.

As the largest standalone meeting space hotel in the Birmingham-Hoover metropolitan area, Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel regularly hosts conventions, association meetings, sports teams, and other group events. “We regularly meet with national planners to bring in groups and associations from across the country,” says Paul Dangel, director of sales and marketing. “We also work closely with the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau to ensure our spaces continue to meet the needs of a wide range of events.”

Located adjacent to Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, the hotel offers convenient access to Interstates 65 and 459, as well as nearby shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
