SAN ANTONIO—Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas has named Jon Benson general manager following the 300-acre property’s more than $100 million renovation and expansion.

Benson brings approximately 40 years of Hyatt experience to this new role. He began his career at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach in California as a third-shift room service cook, with later executive chef positions at several Hyatt properties, including resorts in Aruba, Puerto Rico, Colorado, Hawaii, and Florida. In 2007, he joined Hyatt’s corporate office in Chicago as corporate director of culinary operations for North America, Canada, and the Caribbean. He later served as general manager at Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, Park Hyatt Washington, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Hana-Maui Resort, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa, and most recently, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in California.

“I am thrilled to join Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas and build upon the incredible legacy that has made this resort a favorite destination for generations of travelers,” Benson says. “With the resort’s exciting transformation complete, I look forward to working alongside our incredible team by creating truly personalized experiences, lasting memories, and the genuine Texas Hill Country hospitality that will further make Hyatt Regency Hill Country one of the nation’s premier resort destinations.”

Benson relocated to San Antonio in June and was recently appointed to the board of the Visit San Antonio Tourism Public Improvement District.

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas’ transformation includes the addition of The Big Spring, a 2.2-acre lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons technology, along with standalone villas, updated golf and spa offerings, expanded amenities, and renovated guest rooms and meeting spaces.
