SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – The new owner of the Sea Trail Convention Center has big plans for the North Carolina property.
Sea Trail Investments recently purchased the convention center, the nearby Village Activity Center, and 15 acres of adjacent property.
According to an article on starnewsonline.com, plans for the property include a 150-room resort-style hotel, a state-of-the-art driving range, and a new practice and entertainment facility.
Sea Trail Investments co-owner Robert Hill said in an interview that their company and partners had previously purchased the remaining undeveloped land in Sea Trail in 2020.
“The purchase of the convention center, future hotel site, and the amenity center is the next phase in our effort to revitalize Sea Trail,” he told starnewsonline.com. “We are in what should be the final phase of a development agreement and conditional zoning with the town, and we are ready to partner with them to continue revitalizing Sea Trail.”
As the convention center has sat “dormant” for a few years, the venue will receive an overhaul of its major components, as well as upgrades to parking lots, outdoor reception areas, lighting, and signage.
The Village Activity Center includes a restaurant and catering business offering food; drinks; and indoor, outdoor and poolside accommodations, according to the article. The center will be operated by Golf Trek, the largest provider for Myrtle Beach golf packages.
Chinaway, Corporate Development LLC, which previously owned the convention center, amenity center, and undeveloped land, maintains ownership of the surrounding golf courses.
