Freemason, Norfolk’s oldest neighborhood, has cobblestone streets, beautifully preserved historic homes, and a charming waterfront atmosphere. Ocean View offers a laid-back coastal vibe with beaches and fresh seafood, while the area near Old Dominion University adds a lively, college-town energy.

The Elizabeth River Trail (ERT), a 10.5-mile pedestrian and bike path along the waterfront, continues to expand and offer a scenic, convenient way to explore Norfolk. The Tide, Virginia’s first light-rail system, provides easy transportation through downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Ongoing improvements at Norfolk International Airport have streamlined travel. Carnival Cruise Line now offers year-round cruises from Norfolk to ports in the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas.
