Oklahoma City’s new Convention Center to Open in 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahoma City’s new $288-million convention center is slated to open for business in late 2020. Said to be the largest single construction project in the city’s history, the MAPS 3 Downtown Convention Center will replace the city’s current convention center.

Also set to open in 2020, a new hotel from Omni Hotel & Resorts. It will be north of the new convention center, connected by a skywalk, and will offer 605 rooms with about 50,000-square-feet of meeting space.

The new convention center will be 500,000 square feet with a 200,000-square-foot exhibit hall and about 45,000 square feet of meeting space on all levels of the building. A 30,000-square-foot ballroom is the main space on the fourth level. The city is also building a new parking garage to support the convention center.

The OKC CVB has launched a new website, MeetInOKC.com, to keep meeting planners and others up-to-date on convention center news leading up to the opening.

Directly west of the convention center will be a 70-acre, fully programmed park that will connect downtown OKC to the shores of the Oklahoma River. Scissortail Park is on a 40-acre section across from the new Convention Center.
