MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Myrtle Beach is a unique destination in that it appeals to different types of groups.
The theater and entertainment experience in particular is one of biggest draws to the Grand Strang due in part to the abundance of charming theaters, concert halls, and live shows. In 1986, when Calvin Gilmore and The Carolina Opry pioneered Myrtle Beach’s theater boom, the area has emerged as a hotspot for live entertainment.
According to Visit Myrtle Beach, here is what is going on at the some of the area’s most recognized venues.
- The Carolina Opry: The Carolina Opry, a family-owned venture started more than 30 years ago. Taking place at the Calvin Gilmore Theater, this show blends two hours of high-energy music and comedy inside a luxurious theater. Known as the area’s first love theater, The Carolina Opry has had a longer run than any Broadway show and is preparing to launch its 35th Christmas special, one of the venue’s most beloved shows.
- The Alabama Theater: To ensure a safe experience for guests, the Alabama Theatre has shared its plans to keep everyone safe, with changes including seating in every other row and appropriately distanced reserved seats in each row; using disinfectants approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) before, during, and after each performance; and requiring face masks for all staff, and encouraging guests to wear face masks as well when able.
