Visit Sarasota County and Bradenton Area CVB Celebrate Direct Flights

This group of meeting professionals were all smiles after the United Airlines inaugural flight on Oct. 27.

A nonstop route from Dulles International to the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport is being hailed by Visit Sarasota County (VSC) and the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (BACVB) as opening up new economic opportunities for the region.

VSC and BACVB partnered with United Airlines and the airports to add the two daily nonstop flights.

The two destination marketing organizations celebrated the inaugural flight on Oct. 27 with a water cannon salute, giveaways and a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport.

It is hoped the flights will create new economic opportunities, as the associations in Washington may consider Sarasota County and the Bradenton area as a more viable destination for meetings.

The flights allow domestic and international travelers to connect through one of United’s hub cities if a layover is necessary.
