City Express by Marriott expands with brand’s first U.S. hotel

Marriott International Inc. introduced City Express by Marriott Duluth (GA), the first City Express by Marriott property in the United States. Located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, the 83-room hotel is the company’s official debut in the affordable midscale segment in the United States and Canada.

Jackson County’s new campaign unveils new visitor-friendly offerings

Jackson County Tourism Development Authority (JCTDA) has launched a new marketing brand campaign, “More Peak Moments.” Inspired by the county’s eight mountain towns—Balsam, Cashiers, Cherokee, Cullowhee, Dillsboro, Glenville, Sapphire, and Sylva—the new campaign invites visitors to embrace their own “peak moments”  in the western North Carolina destination.

The rundown on Gaylord Palms’ $134 million renovation

Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center has debuted recently completed renovations, including a new lobby, remodeled restaurants, renovations to two major event ballrooms, and more than 1,400 of the resort’s 1,718 guest rooms.

Kevin Carey appointed AHLA Foundation president and CEO

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) on March 3 announced the appointment of Kevin Carey as the AHLA Foundation’s president and CEO. In a press release, AHLA said Carey will continue to serve as COO of AHLA.

Rainwater Conference Center adds three new team members

March 11, 2025

The Rainwater Conference Center in Valdosta, Ga., appointed three new team members to enhance the meetings and events team and to manage the recently renovated facility. The conference center completed approximately $1 million in upgrades last year.
