
Anyone who flies the friendly skies knows costs are increasing but depending which airport travelers are flying out of will influence the impact on their wallets.
Website FinanceBuzz.com has released a ranking of the 45 busiest airports across the U.S. based on average airfare cost, and some in the South are among the most inexpensive.
Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport was ranked as the most inexpensive airport with an average flight cost of $233.06, with Orlando International Airport coming in second with an average cost of $241.01.
Miami International Airport and Tampa International Airport rounded out the top five, with respective average costs of $263.76 and $270.88 per flight.
According to the rankings, the three most expensive airports in the South were Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. (average cost of $408.08), Charlotte/Douglas International Airport (average cost of $356.60), and Kansas City International Airport (average cost of $342.63).
As noted in FinanceBuzz’s report, overall airfare costs rose 0.30 per cent from 2020 to 2021, the first time they had increased since 2014.
