MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Southwest Airlines has announced 10 new nonstop destinations from the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).
Beginning May 23, passengers will be able to travel directly to Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, and Pittsburgh. On June 6, the airline will launch service to five additional destinations: Atlanta; Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis, Ind.; Kansas City, Mo.; and St. Louis, Mo.
“We are thrilled beyond measure with Southwest’s decision to introduce service to so many great markets from MYR,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports.
He added: “Demand for travel to and from the Grand Strand is growing at a rapid pace, and we look forward to the opportunity to serve even more customers, thanks to the ample air service opportunities provided through the expansive Southwest network.”
Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) president and CEO Karen Riordan said, “Southwest’s announcement regarding these fantastic destinations will greatly open up new travel opportunities for our residents and businesses. At the same time, these key markets will allow us to welcome many more visitors who can now explore Myrtle Beach for their family vacations, special events, sports travel, and business meetings. This is a true win/win for our area as we all work to recover this year and grow in years to come.”
The addition of Southwest means that MYR will now have nine airlines. MYR is currently served by Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Porter, Sun Country, Spirit and United.
