
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Visit Columbus and the Columbus Cultural Heritage Foundation are looking forward to hosting “Fireworks on the Water 2022” on Friday, July 1 to kick off the holiday weekend. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the event will be held on the East Bank of Stennis Lock and Dam, Wilkins Wise Road off Highway 45 North in Columbus, Miss.
Partnering with groups such as the Corps of Engineers, Columbus Air Force Base, the City of Columbus, Lowndes County, and other community partners, this regional event is to honor active duty and retired military. Live music will include Eden Brent from the Mississippi Delta, Mississippi State University Graduate Choir performing patriotic medleys, and headliner Mississippi-born musician Jamell Richardson. Richardson will entertain with an eight-piece band including brass horn section, female vocalist, organ, and more. Food vendors will be serving barbeque, burgers, chicken, tacos, pizza, homemade ice cream, snow cones, and much more. Children’s activities include jumpers, slides, and face painting. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show synchronized to music.
